Why Sealed Bid?
As an artist I know the intrinsic value of the art piece. How much time and material I have invested
in a particular piece of art. And as such, that is what I base my minimum starting bid price at. The
starting bid price is a break-even cost, that if sold at that price, I would just cover my cost to produce
that piece of art. I would just pay for the material and the base labor to produce the item, with no
profit for my creativity, fantasy, or imagination.
What I don’t know as an artist is, how much is the artistic, creative, aesthetic value worth? Only you,
the buyer of the art piece, can  decide that. How alluring is the art work to you? How captivating is
the art piece to the other bidders? What is the possession of the art piece worth to you? No two
art pieces are exactly alike. What is another bidder doing to make sure he has an original, one of a kind
art piece? Only sealed bids can determine how desirable a particular art piece is.
There are other reasons for sealed bids. Many of my customers require anonymity. With sealed bids,
only the price the item sold for is made available in the, “Open For Bids Gallery”,  after the art piece is sold.
I also have many repeat art gallery buyers who purchase my art, then resale in their galleries at considerable
mark-up.  And for obvious reasons would not like others to know where they purchased the item directly from.
 So.....
When you go to place your sealed bid, whether for your personal art collection or as a special gift of art
for a loved one or special friend. Or for dressing up your place of business.......

Only you can decide. For ultimately,  “Artistic Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder!”
